The Evan Foundation- NO FIRST TIME is committed to educating children and their families on the dangers of experimenting with drugs. Our team has traveled to schools throughout the state of Massachusetts presenting to audiences ranging from 20 to 700 with a powerful message: if you want to have a good future – you can not do drugs.
In 2014-15, The Evan Foundation was organized after founders, John & Stephanie Greene, lost their son Evan, to an opiate overdose. Like so many others, Evan’s journey began with one pill offered by a peer. That one pill led to a horrible addiction that ultimately ended his life. John & Stephanie bravely share Evan’s Story with schools and community groups as part of a larger program that includes an educational component presented by a Massachusetts State Trooper & Drug Recognition Expert, and the personal account of a recovering addict who shows just how easy it is to slip into the world where drugs become more important than anything or anyone else.
The No First Time 45 minute presentation and 15-minute question and answer period are designed to educate young people on the danger of experimenting with drugs and engaging in risky behavior. In the 2015/2016 school year, the team presented to over twenty schools, parent groups, and organizations including: Brockton Middle School, Easton Middle School, Stoughton Middle School, Quincy Middle School, Upper Cape Tech High School, Foxboro Charter School, Norfolk Middle School, Methuen Middle School, Agawam Middle School, Dedham Middle School, King Phillip Middle School, and Sandwich Middle School. In addition, No First Time has collaborated with North Cottage in Norton, Teen Challenge in Brockton, and Gosnold on Cape Cod. This school year, No First Time, has been on target with the goal to reach five to 10 schools and organizations per month. We are determined to fight the opiate epidemic through education and awareness. Our hope is to reach children and families to stop the journey before it starts because there is No First Time.
